Stripping the second vehicle

I meant to take more photos as I did this strip down, but forgot. There’s about 2 days work in doing this.

Using the Land Rover Universal Spanner to get the trim off the firewall. The firewall isn’t too bad, but it needs some repairs to the footwells on both sides.

My local welding bloke is coming to take a look this weekend to see how we approach this. The best way might be to buy ready made replacement footwells and weld them in, but they’re reasonably expensive and would require a lot of welding. I’m a bit worried about too much welding on the firewall, in case it warps.

It took the best part of two days work to get the Rover down to this state. The panels weren’t too bad, I cut most of them off with a jigsaw ready to go in the trailer for the tip.

The tub is in pretty woeful state, but I can use the galvanised trim pieces, so I’ll be getting them off next. The chassis is in good condition, so I’ll hang on to it in case I have a need for it.

After that I can get the chassis down the side of the house, and off the driveway.
